SIMULATIONS

The organization of international institutions simulations is a practice with a long-standing tradition, applied in tertiary education as an alternative teaching method consolidated as early as the end of the Second World War. Its long presence and proven effectiveness in education render it still an innovative tool for teaching young people how international institutions function, as well as their importance for individual states and the international community as a whole. They complement formal education by conveying, through an experiential, interactive process, knowledge on:

· the official procedures and working methods of institutions,

· how specific and complex policy issues and crises are managed,

· the way decisions regulating their every-day life as national and global citizens are made.

Simulations constitute a lesson of civic education and contemporary democracy, as they generate many beneficial learning outcomes, such as, but not limited to, the use of dialogue as a means of dispute settlement, the exchange of views among peers, as well as the exposure to the art of negotiation, to joint action and cooperation.

The Institute of European Integration and Policy organizes its European and international bodies' simulations for many years now and coaches university students' delegations for national and international EU and UN Models.
