IOANNIS PAPADOPOULOS

Dr. Ioannis Papadopoulos is a Professor of Modern and Contemporary Political and Legal Philosophy and European Policies, and the Director of the Center for Research on Democracy and Law at the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds two Masters (in Legal Philosophy and Public Law) and a PhD in Law. He has been a Visiting Professor for several years at Sciences Po Paris and at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne Paris 1, and a Fellow at the Institut des Hautes Etudes sur la Justice in Paris. He has also served as Scientific Advisor for the ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy) Committee of the European Parliament, and as legal assistant to Chief Justice Guy Canivet, then President of the French Cour de cassation. His fields of interest are European Political System and Institutions; European Policies; Political, Legal and Moral Philosophy; Public and Comparative Law; Fundamental Rights Law. He has written and edited, alone or jointly, seven books (winning two awards for one of them) and several articles in French, American, English, Italian, Belgian, Australian and Greek scholarly journals, collective volumes and conference proceedings.

Prof. Papadopoulos is a visiting research fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy during the spring semester of the academic year 2023-24.
